A couple of days ago I posted a short video on my Facebook fan page about the importance of content and content creation for your business and my thoughts about it. Today I want to expand on a couple of points I made on that video because I think this is a very important topic.
Content = Top Of Mind
Think about the amount of content you consume on a daily basis. Facebook newsfeed, tweets, Instagram, the list goes on and on…. we are all constantly consuming content. In a society where a 3-month-old blog post or video seems OLD, content is king. It ensures your relevancy.
For every day that you don’t create new content, someone else is getting in front of your audience and potential customers. Remember, out of sight, out of mind.
Consistent content creation gives you a competitive edge over the other guy. Doing so ensures that when someone is ready to buy, they do so from you.
I made a point in this video that I want to reiterate again because I think it’s important. Although you may be a total rockstar in your niche and that other “expert” maybe is just so-so, because they do a better job at positioning themselves, a customer may choose to do business with the so-so “expert” over you because you failed to position yourself as someone who could help them with their problem or pain point.
Consumer trust is needed before any type of transactions can take place. Be it online or offline. And trust is perceived by consumers differently. People are more comfortable buying from someone they feel they know. Now, you may never meet any of your customers, but to them, a relationship has been established when they feel they know, like and trust you. Content helps establish rapport.
So create a schedule you can stick to. Maybe you can only create content once a week. That’s fine. Remember that content is not just a written blog. A piece of content can be a short or long video or a podcast. Find a channel your most comfortable with and use it.
In my next blog post, I am going to share with you how you can take one piece of content and repurpose it multiple times. So if you want to know when I’ve published it, make sure you opt-in to my email list and become an insider down below.
